Youth Ride Out
The equestrian events of Lanimer Week 2016 kicked off last night with the Youth Ride Out.
Leaving the Country Park Car Park at 6.15pm, the ‘Safe Oot, Safe In!’ was carried out by Lord Cornet Elect Gordon Jess.
The route this year took the riders from the Racecourse, down Robiesland Road and the Lady Mary to Braxfield Road. From Wellgatehead, the ride made it’s way to Kirkfieldbank through Delves Park, Castlebank, St Patrick’s Road, the Sewage Works road, and Mousewill Road. After going up The Ditches, through Newphlar, Rothesbank and along to the Lee Castle East Lodge, they returned to Kirkfieldbank for a short stop at Old Bridgend.
To complete the evening, the riders returned to Lanark Racecourse by the reverse route.
The Lord Cornets’ Club would like to thank the Landowners for allowing the ride to cross their land, and Police Scotland, the Red Cross, and club members and friends for marshaling the ride out.
