Lanark Lanimer Procession 2016

9th June 2016 is fast approaching and this date means so much to all who hold Lanark Lanimers to their hearts, both this years’s participants and yesteryear’s. One never forgets and folks will be returning from far and near to witness the best Procession in Scotland and the UK.

Once again our Sponsors with their participating children and adults will showcase ingenuity and enthusiasm to ensure spectacle for the spectators.

A hint of what you will see and hear …

From Medieval Royal Court to The Big Top Circus, Greek Gods and the 1st Olympics, the 50s in true Happy Days style, Star Wars and a trip into space, Down on the Farm and a visit to deepest Africa, Spanish Harlam and Rio Fun, Games we play and Spot that Emu, U3A strikes out and Up, up and Away, American footballers and Strictly Come Dancing Roadshow to name but a few to tantalise you to come along.

Music abounds with Pipe and Silver Bands and Samba and Accordion Music to keep you dancing.

Our Lanimer Queen Morgan Shillan and Champion Cameron Thomson are both excited and honoured to have been selected to represent their schools and be the stars of this wonderful event.

Lord Cornet Gordon Jess and his supporters will head the procession which leaves from St Leonard Street at 10am.

To rival a Disney Parade any day, come along and be transported to Fun, Tradition and Community Spirit at its very best.

Death of Ex-Lord Cornet Ian Gray

lord_cornet_1993

Sad news today about the passing of Ex-Lord Cornet Ian Gray.

Ian was Lord Cornet in 1993, and was a stalwart of the Lanimer Committee.

He was instrumental in the set-up and running of the Silver Club, and was heavily involved with the Sports and Entertainments sub committees.

His brother Leonard, was Lord Cornet in 1987, and his nephew, Gordon is our current Lord Cornet.

He was found at home this morning, after neighbours raised concerns about him.

Our thoughts and prayers to his family and friends at this sad time.
